McCrae Lake

2 hours north of Toronto, just off Highway 69.

If you're into nature in its fullest, have the availability of a canoe and a car, you can have a wonderful time. I suggest camping for a couple of days. There is no fee as this is still public (crown) land. Take Highway 400 north which eventually turns into Highway 69. Go for about 35 - 40 kms, eventually you'll come to a service station on the right side and a sign which says "Georgian Bay Rd." Turn left there. Once on the road, make an immediate right turn into the parking lot. From the lower parking lot there is a path into the woods which is about a 5 minute walk. This is where you launch your canoe from. Canoe out towards some rocks on your left. You will have to portage over these rocks. It is great swimming at the rocks or soaking under the falls here. Once over the rocks you will see a river that takes you out to McCrae Lake. Once on the lake there are many camp sites along the shore and a couple on the islands. Take your clothes off and enjoy. This has been a great nude outing for many years as it is inaccessible by motor boat. There is lots of space for everyone. Weekends are busy, so arrive early to get your camp site.

Is this information still valid? Is nude camping and swimming still practiced in Lake McCrae?
